i'm sure a few of you have read at least some of the books from this series. you know, the one where the first book was great and showed a lot of promise? and where all the subsequent books read like they were written by Dan Brown (and not in the good way)?
basically, the premise of the story is that a few people in a mid-Apocalyptic/post-Rapture era are fighting for survival in a world in upheaval. according to the Left Behind series and whoever they researched off of, the Rapture is when all the "true Christians" are whisked away into heaven, sparing them from the 7 years of turmoil (tribulation) in which the anti-christ reigns prior to the second coming of Christ and the Day of Judgment. those that realize the Rapture has occured and repent of their unholy ways band together to form a "Tribulation Force". and that's as far as i could bear to read.
and basically, they've decided that it is time to convert this epic tale into a video game (pun intended, obviously). maybe this will draw attention away from the "evolution is just a theory" stickers on Louisiana science textbooks and the Da Vinci Code and other important "Christian" issues.
"sorry, the missions trip to Caracas is cancelled because we're hosting a Da Vinci Code conference on the merits of Dan Brown's claims about the bloodline of Christ and how his children have evolved into angels and/or demons who have infiltrated the CIA and are fighting each other undercover for supreme control over the government to they can decide once and for all if the evolution stickers on textbooks is God's will or not."

There's a blog (http://slacktivist.typepad.com/) that has a section on Left Behind and each post goes through a few pages at a time, examining and taking apart the writing and the theology behind the series. It's interesting and entertaining, actually.
you're right--books two and three aren't that good, but from book four onwards the series does get better.
sorry to burst all the evolutionists' misinformed bubbles, but the theory of evolution is completely bogus on purely scientific grounds. well, no, because the theory of MICROevolution (where - within a species - beneficial mutations/adaptations can be retained to increase rates of survival) does have empirical evidence and whatnot to support it. it is also logically possible. however, the extrapolation thereof into macroevolution (where every "thing" can become any other "thing" given the right stimuli and/or amount of time through retained chance mutations, implying that all life occurred as a result/function of chance and time) is totally bogus, on empirical and practical levels. i would take time to explain it, but Michael Denton does it a heck of a lot better of a job in "Evolution: A Theory In Crisis" (a must read for all bio-buffs). i guarantee you will not be disappointed. Denton disproves evolution as theory with logic, bio-knowledge, and plain evidence (more like lack thereof). all from a purely scientific and non-religious point of view. i think Darwin's dogma rivals (if not surpasses) the "Church's" dogma.

yeah, guy. i skimmed that inaugural address and it was too funny for me to continue reading with a straight face. and you know that i can't read anything unless it's with a straight face.
